Offices Nationwide
Fire Risk Assessments - Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a fire risk assessment is necessary in virtually all buildings in England and Wales, other than domestic dwellings.
The law applies to you if you are:
- The Landlord of a building
- Responsible for business premises
- A charity or voluntary organisation
- An employer or self-employed with business premises responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes
- A contractor with a degree of control over any premises
- Providing accommodation for paying guests
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order is the current fire safety legislation that covers most workplaces today. This legislation stipulates that all employers must carry out a full Fire Risk Assessment, thoroughly examining the potential risk and spread of fire in a commercial property.
Why do I need a Fire Risk Assessment?
- To identify the fire hazards
- To identify people at risk
- To evaluate, remove or reduce the risks
- To Record your findings, prepare an emergency plan and provide training
E2 Consultants' Fire Risk Assessors are all highly qualified and have all attended and passed specialist fire safety courses at the Fire Service College.
Our assessors can carry out fire surveys / assessments on new or existing properties and produce a full and detailed report which will detail any improvement works that are required.
Local Fire authorities visit properties to check the fire risk assessment and prevention measures to ensure that they are appropriate. Fire safety officers should help you understand the rules and how to comply with them. If they think your fire safety measures are not adequate they may issue an informal notice suggesting safety measures or alternatively issue a formal fire safety notice which will tell you what to do to fix the problems described within the notice.
Minor penalties can be up to £5,000. Major penalties can have unlimited fines and up to 2 years in prison.

Landlords of Buildings
Common areas in flats and sleeping accommodation will need fire risk assessments and it is good practice to get a fire risk assessment done regularly and to have evidence of all completed assessments in case there is an insurance claim. Below you can find a link to some useful information regarding fire risk assessments for sleeping accommodation, common areas and also the Fire Safety Order 2005, a short guide to making your premises safe from fire.

E2 Consultants - Fire Safety Products
E2 Consultants provide a range of products through one of our associate companies. These products range from fire extinguishers, accessories, signage and also servicing of your existing products.
Water Fire Extinguishers
Water is still one of the most useful of all available fire extinguishers, and these water extinguishers offer excellent fire suppression for attacking freely burning materials such as paper, cloth and wood. For technical data please contact our office on 0800 043 8100.
Powder Fire Extinguishers
Dry powder is a highly versatile Class ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ fire fighting medium for most fire risks. In addition to dealing with electrical hazards, flammable liquids and gasses, this extensive range of dry powder extinguishers is also effective on vehicle fires. The size variations of these dry powder stored pressure extinguishers reflect their versatility and proven track record. For technical data please contact our office on 0800 043 8100.
Wet Chemical Extinguishers
The wet chemical extinguisher is ideal for Class ‘F’ fires, involving cooking oils and fats, such as lard, olive oil, sunflower oil, maize oil and butter. It is extremely effective as the wet chemical rapidly kills the flames, cools the burning oil and chemically reacts, sealing the surface and preventing re-ignition. Independent fire tests have established that it is capable of extinguishing a fire in a 75 litre capacity deep fat fryer. The extinguisher is easy to use, producing a gentle, but highly effective spray. The gentle application helps prevent hot oil splashing onto the user. An added benefit is that it is also suitable for freely burning materials (Class ‘A’) such as wood, paper and fabrics. For technical data please contact our office on 0800 043 8100.
Foam Fire Extinguishers
Foam extinguishers provide a fast, powerful means of tackling Class ‘A’ and ‘B’ fires. Highly effective against petrol and volatile liquids, forming a flame smothering seal over the surface and also preventing re-ignition, ideal for multi-risk usage, including vehicle fires. For technical data please contact our office on 0800 043 8100.
Carbon Dioxide Extinguishers
All of these CO2 models have non-conductive anti-static horns and are suitable for situations involving flammable liquids and electrical hazards. CO2 is harmless to electrical equipment components. Ideal for modern office environments, all electrical risks, where oils, spirits, solvents and waxes are in use. For technical data please contact our office on 0800 043 8100. |
